Dear Joanna We had a great time at Lamostonie, the children making the most of all the facilities available - round the table ping pong being a favourite after dinner! - all 18 of us! It was lovely that all the children get on so well, and were busy all day and half the night enjoying themselves. We decided that our best move was to have dinner cooked and cleared up, a real treat for all the mums, and Mme Francoul did a great job for us. We had a few outings as well. Some of these chateaux built up the sides of steep rocks are amazing. It was very, very hot when we first arrived but after a storm it was reasonable. Thank you for letting us borrow Lamostonie for a very successful holiday. Thank you so much for the wine you left out. Is the vineyard at Trichot yours? With my very best wishes for a successful summer. Frederiques says you are fully booked all summer - that sounds good! Caroline

Chateau Cardou is a magnificent property with beautiful bedrooms and living rooms throughout. It is clearly an authentic chateau but it's also clear that it was completely renovated recently and is in excellent condition with a modern kitchen well decorated throughout. It really is the most magnificent property we have stayed in. We had three families staying here with nine children. The upstairs is a large open space with half a dozen bedrooms all round. This became the kids space. Downstairs is the kitchen, living room, dining room, we could seat all 15 of us here in one go and larger bedrooms. There are utilities and a table tennis table in the basement. Outside there is a decent sized heated outdoor pool, gardens and tennis court and with all these facilities we could have kept the family happy at the Chateau all week. Nearby we could explore the woods and nearby vinyards. The fields around were a mixture including vines and sunflowers and the property is set a little way off the "main" road so we didn't have to worry about anyone running into the road and it was quite private. The local area is not the most interesting I have found in France but we went caneoing on the river, did some rock climbing, explored the local castle and longer trips to Rocamadour and the caves for the more spectacular. We have been concerned about stories of fake listings on Owners Direct and for completeness, the property is owned by Joanna & Bill a rather posh, mature English couple who clearly spend a lot of time in France. If they are in England they will supply a phone number with a Newbury, Berkshire area code and I recommend that you speak to Joanna.

Luisa and I celebrated our wedding at Chateau Trichot in May 2014. Joanna and Bill were extremely helpful from the get go. Arranging our do far from home we had lots of questions, but they gracefully answered our many questions and pointed us in the direction of local businesses. When we arrived the house was all set up (pool and tennis court too) and the local staff were very helpful and not intrusive. The groundskeeper also helped set up the barn for our big day. The area can be a trek for guests to get to, but those who made the journey fell in love with the stunning setting. The locals are also friendly and we were able to find everything we needed nearby. We stayed for 1 week and hired the whole property (cottage too) and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to celebrate there too.

We had a wonderful stay in La Mostonie. The house and grounds are gorgeous and very quiet. The pool and tennis court were much appreciated and well used. Table tennis in the basement was great fun, and we had some needle boule matches on the drive. Comfortable beds, super-powerful shower, tons of hot water, spacious kitchen, dining room and sitting rooms all made for a very comfortable and relaxing week. Would definitely recommend.

Dear Joanna What a fantastic time we all had at the Chateau [Lamostonie] and you were so kind with all the info which came in most useful. Frederique could not have been more amenable and quiet delightful. You are certainly lucky to have such a good charming housekeeper. She looked after our every needs. Mme Francoual was an absolute star and produced different meals every night, she also made the most delicious birthday cake for me. Even if she did not come 2 members of her family came and were equally good and flexible to the timing of the meals. Always beautifully arranged napkins and polished glasses, plus candles lit in the candelabras. They always washed up by hand. I will certainly recommend anyone the Chateau de Lamostonie as we were so impressed how well it was equipped it especially all the little details....the tap by the tennis court and all the games in the dinning room where they enjoyed playing monopoly on a French board. Comfortable beds and delightful bathrooms, though I have never had such a great big bath to wallow in ! Again many thanks for your helpful e mails which made all the difference to a wonderful and memorable holiday which the family will not forget as everyone got on so well. Best wishes Jennifer

Dear Joanna, This is a short note to thank you very much indeed for our use of Chateau Cardou over the last week. Everything has worked perfectly. The swimming pool is a pleasure- mostly warmer in than out - and the tennis court saw lots of keenly fought contests. The house itself worked very well at all times and fulfilled all our needs. Due to the “temps ecossais”, we spend more time having meals in the dining room than on the terrace but, perhaps, this was in deference to our three Anglo-Trinidian guests! Anyway, as we have been completely “Cardo-ed” we have spent almost all our time here. And I’m sure, if permitted, we would like to return in due course. Again, many, many thanks. With our very Best Wishes and Sincere Thanks. Veuillez accepter mes sentiments meilleurs. Paul

I think that we have stayed all ALL the wonderful chateaux that the S-Bs own and each is so different but just magical and just what you need for a party with your pals. Very comfortable, good help to aid you if you require it with the catering and a lovely garden, tennis court & pools. We will return & so should you! Enjoy

Hi Joanna, We had a wonderful time at Chateau Lamostonie…… Really above everyone´s expectations as we had already had the experience in Tuscany, and some of the family were afraid that this “second part” was not going to be as nice… Everything worked out excellent… Not a single issue: chateau perfect, region perfect, food perfect, wine perfect, We did a lot of tourism in the region: Sarlat, caves, castles, small villages, etc…. Will definitely be recommending your chateau among our acquaintances… maybe you will start receiving more visitors from Chile now… Best Felipe
